Dempsey to Test for A1 Team Ireland

Star Mazda series championship contender Peter Dempsey is hoping to impress the A1Team Ireland management when he tests for the team later in the year.

Dempsey, who lies just four points off the Star Mazda championship lead heading to round seven in Iowa this weekend, is excited about the opportunity to test with the title winning Irish team and hopes to impress the team with a professional display.

Speaking to juniorformula.blogspot.com Dempsey admits that the chance to drive for his national team in a test session is a great honour.

“First of all, I'm extremely grateful for even being given the opportunity to test in A1GP,” said Dempsey. “It's a great opportunity for me to get the experience of driving the Ireland A1GP car.

“The test will take place at Silverstone in September, and for me, it will be about doing a professional job as a driver and not making any mistakes. Hopefully, I can do a good job and impress the team enough that they would consider me for the main seat.”

The interview also outlines Dempsey’s ambitions for the future and reveals the help he has received from an unusual source that has helped keep him in the championship hunt this season. The feature also includes a biography of the Irish ace detailing his rise from tearway kart ace to prolific Formula Ford winner before his move to US racing in 2008.
