Leinster Trophy success for Dempsey

Meath Driver Peter Dempsey brought home the Leinster Trophy racing in Formula Ford in Mondello Park last Sunday. This is one of Peter's finest moments in his career with his name appearing on this prestigious piece of silverware alongside winners like Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen, Eddie Jordan and John Watson. This success came 25years to the day after Ayrton Senna's Leinster trophy victory.
The win comes on the back of his August driver of the month award from Motorsport Ireland and strengthens his position for the overall driver-of-the-year award an honour he won twop years ago.
" I got off to a cracking start and defended well for the first three laps. I was under alot of pressure then i got my head down and manged to break clear. My times were consistent and i managed to set a new lap record at 1.48.44.
the Meath drivers ability to absorb the pressure from the back brought him across the line to take the chequered flag 3.4seconds ahead of his nearest rival.
