Dempsey Earns Second Chance for Young Driver Award

Peter Dempsey, winner of the 2005 Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Year Award, has earned himself yet another bite of the cherry!

Following his winning the Golden Helmet Race at Knockhill on 22nd July, Peter went on to win again on 25th August in the Martin Donnelly Trophy FF1600 Race at Kirkistown. It is on the basis of these performances that the 21 year old from Ashbourne, Co.Meath has been selected Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Month for August.

Peter has taken some time out this year to consolidate his racing career, but his plans for the remainder of the season include competing for the Leinster Trophy on 22/23rd September, after which, he hopes to go to the U.S. over the winter to do some testing, possibly in Formula Mazda. So, watch this space!

Peter is the fifth Dunlop Driver of the Month for 2007, and is now a contender for the prestigious Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Award, the total prize fund of which is €50,000. This award is presented annually and is sponsored by Irish Dunlop Ltd. with additional support from the Irish Sports Council and Motorsport Ireland.
